The days of using a boring, corporate press release template are no longer effective for most nonprofits. Journalists are trying to compete with social media and instant news, 24/7 so getting your nonprofit press release to print can feel daunting.
Enter the Purposeful Press Release Guidebook and Template! After working in the nonprofit world for over 20 years, I've successfully built relationships with the media in five different cities and with numerous outlets from newspapers to tv stations and online magazines. I know how important it is for organizations to get their story out into the community (without a budget) and I'm sharing my strategies with you!
Beyond the DONE FOR YOU Press Release Template that you can simply edit right inside Google Docs and replace with your own info, the Guidebook offers the best practices for ensuring your story gets to the right media outlet, and shared, every single time.
Here’s what’s inside the 10-page Guidebook:
The exact reasons your press releases aren’t making it into print
The two major factors in getting your information to press
Three keys to getting your story published every single time
An email pitch checklist to ensure the journalist even sees your press release
Four criteria every media member is judging you on — nail these and you’re in great shape
A planning worksheet to help you sketch out your must-hit press release points
A breakdown of the eight sections of the press release and tips to make sure every section is working for your cause
A planning worksheet to plan your next three releases so you’re never scrambling again
When you use the Press Release Guidebook and Template, you’ll:
Have a roadmap to follow instead of guessing what you hope the local newspaper or TV station wants to know
Set yourself apart from others who are out there winging it
Have the confidence to make new media relationships
Get access to my super-secret trick for wowing the media — it’s all about overdelivering and making their job easy
Set yourself and your nonprofit up for success as you share your story with a bigger audience
Can I guarantee you’ll get published?
Unfortunately, no. Media coverage is unpredictable. However, my clients rave about this template and it’s been tried and tested with higher education, grassroots nonprofits, affiliate organizations, and family foundations.
How does the template work?
You’ll receive one PDF that includes both the Guidebook and a link to access the template. The template is created in Google Docs since it’s a free program and works on just about any PC or Mac. When you click the template link inside the PDF, you’ll be prompted to make a copy of the Doc that lives in your own Gmail account.
You’ll see two versions of the example press release — a clean copy first and a copy with notes second.
